THURSDAY NERSDAY!

(Feel free to snag the pic, just link back please!)

Happy Thursday to all my Fantabulous Peeps!!

Today I am reviewing....

HALO
by Alexandra Adornetto

2 out of 5 stars

Hardcover, 496 pages
Published August 31st 2010 by Feiwel & Friends (first published 2010)

Synopsis from Goodreads: "Three angels- Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, the youngest and most human- are sent by Heaven to bring good to a world falling under the influence of darkness. They must work hard to conceal their luminous glow, superhuman powers, and, most dangerous of all, their wings, all the while avoiding all human attachments.

Then Bethany meets Xavier Woods, and neither of them is able to resist the attraction between them. Gabriel and Ivy do everything in their power to intervene, but the bond between Xavier and Bethany seems too strong.

The angel’s mission is urgent, and dark forces are threatening. Will love ruin Bethany or save her?"

2 stars for HALO...

Even though it is from Bethany's point of view, it is written as a narrative, which put the reader in an awkward place.

HALO has a good story line, its just very slow. Like molasses in winter slow. I was expecting so much from this book by all the reviews I have read and I mean, HAVE YOU SEEN THE COVER?! It is FANTASTIC! The book just seemed to drag on and on uneventfully. While Alexandra does have a great tone throughout the book, Bethany just wasn't the best character. I kept finding myself smacking the book and groaning, "omg...are you REALLY that stupid?!" I highly doubt I will read the rest of this series.

I am reading HALO by Alexandra Adornetto, it is a good book so far, so expect my full review on Thursday. There is a lot hanging on the last 130 pages...

Surprise Post!

So, since I don't have a review for today, I thought I would post a piece of writing that I did in the 9th grade. Let me know what you guys think...I know it needs tweaking, but it is just so cool to know that I did this so many years ago. Well...here it goes!

Lyone knelt down next to the campfire, while she probed about the smoldering coals laid out of the fire. She knew that the guard would be coming soon to see what the smoke was coming from and that she would have to leave the cozy fire, but until she heard hooves pounding against the cold hard ground she would not leave to the safety of the forest. She only wished that she had the company of someone, or something. Just as she was drifting off into her own thoughts and troubles she heard the pounding and whinnying of the horses. Not wanting to budge she forced herself to flee into the forest surrounding her. The damp coldness chilled her as she left the fire. By the time she got into the forest she was shivering. She never knew that winters could be so cold. The forest reminded her of the rides that her mother and little sister just a few days ago enjoyed together. Her home, her mother, and her wonderful little sister Marie, oh god how she missed them dreadfully. She only wished that she could take back every horrible thing she had ever done, or said to them. But she couldn’t. No, it was too late for that now; it would be impossible. She forced herself to quit thinking of her family and home in fear of the tears that it would bring.

She noticed that he looked like a proud knight as he sat astride his monster of a horse as he yelled his orders to the shimmering knights. As he leaped off of his horse she was sure that she had been spotted behind the tree. She immediately flattened herself against the tree that she was now unconsciously gripping as tight as she could. Holding her breath as he
walked towards her she noticed that he hadn’t seen her after all, and that he was looking into the forest for movement of the traitor that had supposedly tried to set fire to his Masters beloved forest.

Lyone laughed to herself and proclaimed: you idiot! Who would be stupid enough to try to do something like that, if they were caught they would be hanged, and did he not notice that it was freezing out? “He surly must be stupid,” she murmured aloud. Her eyes widened when she noticed the crime that she had just committed. The huge beast-like man then proceeded toward her. Listening For another giveaway to where she was. She was determined not to do so. She stood there for what seemed like an eternity in silence as she wished that he would leave so that she could breath again, but he just stood there, staring.

She obviously hadn’t noticed that he was staring at her. She looked like a goddess. In fact he was so stunned by her immense beauty he couldn’t move from his spot. He could not speak nor move, much less breathe; he was in total awe.

MOON RISING

Synopsis from Goodreads: "Marinette (Nessy) is half vampire and half human flees her maker Hervidor, the strongest of their kind and the ruler of the underworld of vampires. As Nessy flees to be able to live her life as she chooses, her vengeance for the coven Hervidor created, The Tellis coven rises to the surface as she ventures into unknown parts of life that she has never seen or experienced. As the biggest and strongest of the Gulon and long ago destined to become their leader, Nessy hands over the reins of the leadership back to Hera, claiming the ownership is his by mutual right, mutual consent and adoration of his pack. As Nessy tries to come to terms with the changes happening to her and around her, she continues to slide on the path of love, together Charles, his coven and Nessy make the final stand against Hervidor and the detested Tellis coven to banish them from the earth but will they succeed in banishing Hervidor and his coven?"

A special thanks to Laurie for sending me a copy of this book!

MOON RISING was written in third person, which was meant to show the changing of the world around Nessy.

I really enjoyed the story line of the book, I just wish that it had gone into more detail about the surroundings.

The creatures in this book are amazing, and I believe they could have been even more amazing with a little more tweaking. There are some plot holes, but overall the book is worth the read. I cannot wait to read the second book, to find out about Nessy. The story leaves you in a moment of confusion and peril, making you want the next book to dive in to.

What a weekend!

So, I know you all are waiting on pins and needles to hear how Harry Potter World was!...IT WAS AWESOOOMMMEEE!!

Yes, the area is small, and there were about 10 MILLION people there, elbowing their way from store to store...but it was AMAZING!

Might I say, Universal did a GREAT job making it realistic and charming. The castle was a bit under scale, but still amazing. The best part is, if you have kids they have a "Child Swap" available...which is not as menacing as it sounds...if you want to ride the grown up rides and your kids aren't big enough, don't want to, or whatever the case may be, they can walk through the castle with you and then hang out in a room watching Harry Potter videos until you return and switch adults! I noticed that they had this feature on more than one ride, which is genius if you ask me!

Oh, and don't even get me started on the Butterbeer. Can you say "OUT OF THIS WORLD"?! Because that's what it is! Totally go for the frozen, because its hot outside in Florida pretty much every day, so you will need it to cool down, and because its the best.

I am going to upload tons of pictures tonight.

So, now that I have gotten all of my excitedness out, I have to tell the tale of the ride home. (This is sad, so be ready.) And trust me, small things don't happen to us...

As you can imagine there were 50 billion people headed home yesterday on the interstate, so we decided to make Tawanda (my GPS) take us on the back roads, which she likes to do... so we were cruising along on a forgotten highway going 65-70mph (the speed limit) right behind this large gray truck. My sister was driving and I was turned around talking to my nephew in the back seat, and hubbs was snoozing away. That is when it happened.

A white truck pulled out in front of us and the big gray truck. My sister screamed and I turned in time to see them hit. She swerved out of the road into the median to avoid us being part of the collision and we called 911. Hubbs woke up and sprung into action. (Let's just say this right here; I am SO glad he is law enforcement.)

Hubbs and I were both on the phone with 911 when he had to break the door of the white truck to pull a lady out and resuscitate her on the side of the road.

They life-flighted her to the local hospital, and I don't know how she or the other 7 people involved are.

This experience makes me remember all that law enforcement and first responders do for us. And I need to say thank you to all of them. You never know when you or your family are going to need them the most, and you never know when you are really going to need the person in the car next to you. So, Thank you to all of you out there.

Good Morning!

Good morning, loves!

So, today for all to see, I have decided that Small Review wins....**DRUM ROLL**
