MATCHED
By Ally Condie
3 out of 5 stars
Hardcover, 366 pages
Published November 30th 2010 by Dutton Juvenile
Synopsis from Goodreads: "Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.
The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow."
I gave MATCHED 3 stars.
It was a good book, and very well written, but parts seemed forced.
I connected with Cassia within the first few lines, and loved the rythmic writing style of Ally Condie. I moved with Cassia, and fell in love with Xander within the first chapter. The story was moving, uplifting and heartbreaking.
MATCHED was written in first person, which was necessary to connect and understand the underlying emotions in the book. Then I got just past the half-way mark and it began to go downhill from there. I started to disconnect with Cassia, and the story tumbled forward too fast for the exposition I felt it needed to keep me drawn in. It was a very thought provoking book, it made me feel like I needed to re-evaluate my life and my role in society after reading. It is definitely a beautiful story.

I've heard mixed things about Matched... It's in my TBR, but not at the top of the pile. :)
I love this book so far. Only 3/4 of the way through, though. I can see what you mean about how much it speeds up. It all of a sudden starts jumping larger chunks of time which is a bit disconcerting.
Oh yeah, I really enjoyed the book, but once I started to disagree with Cassia it just became harder and harder for me to stay a part of the story. I look forward to your review!!!
Awesome review!! wow you have loads of followers. I started my blog maybe a day before you, and I don't have any followers at all. :( Well, that is okay I guess. Hey if you want can you check out my blog which is bookloverchick.
